When shopping for a plus-size teen girl, it is not enough to just shop in the women’s department to find clothes that fit well. Women’s clothes are not always cut according to a teenagers body and shape and are not available in the styles that teenage girls like. Here are some of the places a plus-size teenage girl can look to find the latest in fashionable clothing.
Target
Target announced that its new line of plus-size teen clothing would launch the Spring of 2009. Target’s Pure Energy clothing line will go up to a size 30. Pure Energy will feature trendy clothing that any girl will love such as skinny jeans and maxi dresses. Along with Target’s reasonable prices, the new line of plus-size clothing will be a dream come true for larger and shapelier girls.
Forever 21
Set to launch in the Spring of 2009 as well, Forever 21’s plus-size line of clothing, Faith 21, will feature clothing sizes XL-2X. Just as Forever 21 is known among teen girls for up-to-the-minute and affordable fashion, so will its line of plus-size clothing.
Old Navy
Old Navy is a popular clothing store for all teenagers and carries its own line of plus sizes 16-30 from jeans and camis to swimsuits and intimate wear. Plus-size teens can find exactly the same styles as their smaller friends in their own sizes.
Alight
Alight’s first store is located in Plainview, New York, but the website offers stylish plus sizes from 14 to 30. Alight.com carries junior plus and contemporary plus sizes including dresses and gowns for any occasion such as prom, homecoming and weddings. Alight carries a long list of designer brands including Donna Ricco, FUBU and Venezia and is also separated into boutiques with titles including Baby Doll Boutique, Kimono Kraziness and Club Chic to help find the style you’re looking for.
Fashion Bug Plus
Fashion Bug is also a popular teen clothing store. Fashion Bug Plus includes plus sizes 14-32 tees and tanks, jackets and shirts and blouses as well as a Bridal department which includes wedding gowns, shoes and accessories and intimates. Fashion Bug styles are available online and stores are located nationally.
There has been recent debate as to whether plus-size fashion promotes obesity. Just as women come in different sizes, so do teenagers. It is a basic human right for all to look and feel as stylish and fashionable as possible, regardless of the size you are.
